A Day Trip to Edinburgh

Summer is (sadly) coming to an end. It’s September tomorrow and soon I will be heading back to uni for my third and final year (ah scary!). So, I definitely want to make the most of my final weeks of summer break. Yesterday, I spontaneously travelled to Edinburgh for a lovely day of shopping, sightseeing and cocktails! It’s been a while since I visited Edinburgh and I had such a lovely time in this beautiful city.

We arrived at Edinburgh in the morning after catching the 7am train (yawn!) The weather throughout the day changed from cloudy and a bit rainy to sunny and warm! It was almost like summer just wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet. We spent some time on Princes Street and in Princes Street Gardens just taking in some of the famous landmarks. Before moving on to George Street (which is my favourite street in the whole city- it’s gorgeous!). We then stopped at The Chocolate Lounge in Harvey Nichols where we drank choc-tails (yep, alcohol and chocolate) and shared a chocolate fondue. It really was as yummy as it looks- a chocolate lover’s dream!

Now, onto the most important thing… shopping! I love Jenners. It’s a grand, old-fashioned department store and it’s so quirky and unique. We also visited the usual high street stores such as Lush, Jack Wills and Topshop. I must admit I loved seeing the new A/W collection in the Topshop store- it’s definitely my favourite high street collection at the moment. I want it all (who doesn’t?!). Although, I didn’t actually buy anything from Topshop as I’m waiting until I visit the Oxford Street store in London. I did, however, buy a new tartan-print cardigan (I know- I do love tartan) and collared jumper from Primark. After shopping, we had lunch at The Dome (which I didn't take any pictures of, oops) and a wander round the city before heading back for the train. I love Edinburgh: it’s a gorgeous city with lots of history.

Have you visited any cities recently?
