The Real Steal Review

Benefit-The Real Steal- £19.50

I love Benefit Cosmetics. The They're Real! mascara is an absolute favourite of mine; it's definitely my Holy Grail mascara.  So while I was shopping in The Trafford Centre (I love that place) earlier this week, I just couldn’t resist visiting the Benefit counter. I don’t have the willpower to say no to Benefit and besides I had nearly run out of my They're Real! mascara. I ended up buying The Real Steal, which contains: a full size They're Real! mascara, a trial size version of the They’re Real! push-up liner and a sample of the They’re Real! eye makeup remover all for £19.50 (which is exactly the same price of They're Real! mascara on its own - so it really is a steal!).

I had wanted to try the new They’re Real! push-up liner since its release, however after reading a lot of mixed reviews about this product, I was a bit skeptical about buying it. So, this gave me the perfect opportunity to try it for free (yay- thank you Benefit!).

I'll confess- I'm hopeless at doing my eyeliner. So, when Benefit claimed this product makes applying eyeliner “criminally easy”, this eyeliner definitely got my attention. This eyeliner has definitely been causing a rather big stir in the beauty (and blogging world) due to its innovative features. Benefit describes this product as the ‘first ever lash-hugging gel liner in a pen’ and it really does have such a unique design. I love the concept of the AccuFlex™tip, it really is soft and flexible and sharply angled (which supposedly makes it more precise to apply). You twist the base the liner a few times to get the gel liner to the base (it does take a LOT of twists when you first you use this product!).

Although, the concept sounds incredible I'll have to be honest and say I’m not sure if this product is worth the hype. I actually found it quite difficult to apply (although this might get easier with practice). It flakes really easy and dries so quickly- so you really only have one shot at getting at it right. If you do decide to go over the line, it flakes even more! I also found that the colour is a little bit inconsistent on application, which is a shame as the colour is so intense- a gorgeous matte black! Hmm, maybe I’ll have to practice with this product a little bit more before I decide whether to buy the full-size version.

I thought I would also do a quick review of the They’re Real! Mascara as it came with The Real Steal set. As I mentioned before, this is my Holy Grail mascara (I love, love, love it). This mascara makes my lashes look super long and full (almost as if I’m wearing false lashes). It's also great at separating out my lashes. The colour is an intense black and it really makes my eyes stand out. The formula does dry very fast on application, so you do have to work fast when building the mascara up (but to be honest after two applications you’ll probably have your desired effect!) Once it does dry, it definitely isn’t going anywhere! It ain’t budging, so it doesn't flake or smudge. It will be there forevermore until you remove it! Yes, this mascara is a little bit expensive but I always find myself coming back to the They’re Real! mascara after trying alternatives. It’s just superior to every other mascara out there!

The Real Steal set also came with a sample of the They’re Real! eye make up remover. Yes, we all know that the They’re Real! products are notorious to remove… like seriously! Benefit’s They’re Real! eye make up remover definitely does the job- it removes the products easily and has a surprisingly gentle, silky and lightweight formula. Although, I definitely prefer The Body Shop’s Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter.

Do you love the Benefit's They're Real! collection?
