My University Room

So, I’ve just moved back to university to start the third and final year of my degree (so scary). It’s
crazy how fast the last two years have gone, it seems like it was only yesterday that I was arriving to uni for the first time. I suppose time really does fly when you’re having fun (and studying for a degree).

One of the most important things for me to do when I arrive back at uni is to decorate my room. I like to make my room as homely as possible. So, in the summer break I always try to pick up a few bits and bobs. Let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than a trip to Ikea. In fact, apart from clothes and makeup, buying new things for home or uni is one of my favourite things to do. I just can’t say no to cute homeware.

I thought I would give you a glimpse of how I’ve decorated and personalised my room. I always try to keep with a colour scheme or theme and this year my theme is purple and floral. I love how the smallest of details can really make the hugest difference to the feel of the room. It really can make it the most inviting and homely place, which is essential after a long day at uni! My golden rule when decorating my uni room is: never underestimate the power of the cushion! Yes, I’m being serious. I love cushions, they instantly add a pop of colour to your room and they are so cosy! As you can see, I have lots of cushions this year that are different shades of purple and have different patterns. My all-time favourite cushion is my London skyline cushion; I received this as a present when I first started first year from family friends. This cushion is very me as I would love to move to London after I graduate. I really recommend decorating your room with posters and photos. I also have to mention how amazing this throw is. It’s literally the softest thing ever and I absolutely love the colour!

Okay, so one of my favourite parts of my entire room is the desk where I keep all my makeup and perfumes. (Just as I’m writing this, I’ve realised I’ve left my mirror at home… Oops) Anyways, I love all the cute accessories I have in my room this year. I had seen many bloggers using these Ikea plant pots for makeup brushes and I just couldn’t resist buying some. It’s such a cute way to store my brushes (and goes really well with my floral theme). One of my favourite new additions to my room has to be this gorgeous wicker basket that I picked up from Hobbycraft. I’m using it store all my perfumes (yes, I am addicted to Hollister body sprays).  I just had to buy this watering can filled with artificial flowers, it really adds that something extra to my desk. I also have a vase with some more artificial flowers on my bedside table. Oh and of course, I just have to have a copy of Vogue nearby!

How have you decorated your uni room?
