The Sunday Post: Full-Time Student; Part-Time Blogger

I started Our Dreams of Fashion just over five months ago (wow, time is flying by) and it's honestly one of best things I've ever done. I absolutely love blogging: I only wish that I started my blog sooner! I also love being a part of the fashion and beauty blogging community.

Before I started my own blog, I used to spend hours and hours reading fashion and beauty blogs (and I still do- of course!). However, I never truly appreciated just how much work it is to run and maintain a blog. I have so much respect for bloggers who blog everyday! As you may know, I'm currently in my final year of university. At the moment, I am extremely busy with my studies and I have been unable to devote as much time to my blog as I would like to (sorry, for the lack of posts recently). Being a full-time student and a part-time blogger has taught me a lot of things over the past few months. So, I thought I would share some of my blogging tips...

1. Get organised: So, kind of an obvious one but it is probably the most important tip I have... Be organised. You can get organised in so many different ways whether it be a to-do list or making the most of your calendar app on your iPhone! I love to-do lists and I have separate ones for blogging and university. I also like to use different pen colours to indicate which task is the most important (yeah, I like to be organised!) and I find this really helpful to keep on-top of everything I have to do. Calendars are a great way to structure your week around your studies and your blog. This is especially important when you have uni deadlines coming up. This way you can work out exactly when you have time  (and when you don't!) to do all things blog-related such as, writing new posts, planning future ones or answering emails (extra tip: always check your email regularly!).

2.Take your camera wherever you go: Sometimes it can be rather difficult to get blog inspiration when you spend most of your day in the uni library! However, inspiration can really can come at any moment. So, my next tip is to always think like a blogger and to take your camera with you wherever you go. You never know when a spontaneous blog post idea may come about!

3. Be yourself:  A rather cliché tip but nevertheless it's essential to remember that your blog is yours. So, you should be yourself and write what you want to write, not what you think you should write. After all, a blog is your own personal and creative space. My absolute favourite blogs are the ones where you really feel like you know the writer, as they let their personality shine throughout their posts.

4. Social media is your new best friend:  Okay, well it can never replace your actual best friend but let's be honest we all spend wayyy too much time on social media. I mean, I'm even having a quick look on Instagram as I'm typing this (yay for multitasking). But social media is the best way to get your blog noticed. Twitter and Instagram are my personal faves for promoting my blog. Using hashtags and mentioning brands are an easy yet effective way to get your blog seen. Social media is also a great way to discover new blogs that may even become your favourites! There really are sooo many great blogs out there. Blogger chats are the best way to get involved in the amazing (and ever-growing!) blogging community and to interact with other bloggers!

5. Your blog will still be there tomorrow...:  Lastly, it's always good to remember not to take blogging too seriously. After all, as a third year student, my studies absolutely come first right now. Yes, you may be the most organised person in the world but sometimes an essay can take a little bit longer to write than you were expecting. So, maybe you can't always blog when you planned to and that is completely okay. Your blog isn't going anyway and it will still be there tomorrow. You still have your blogging schedule to keep you on track (as mentioned in tip 1), but you may just have to alter it a bit.  You can always blog later, at a time most suitable to you.

What are your blogging tips?
