2014 Beauty Favourites

I can’t believe that it's the last day of 2014, seriously where has this year gone?!

It’s completely flown by: it’s crazy to think that this time last year I was only just thinking about starting a blog and I’m so glad that I finally did. Starting Our Dreams of Fashion has been the highlight of my 2014. I’m so excited to see what 2015 has in store… So, as it’s the last day of 2014, I thought I would share with you all the makeup that I have loved during 2014…

Best Primer: Benefit The Porefessional- I’ll be honest I wasn’t that much of a primer girl before 2014; I never really saw the point. But that all changed when I tried this beautiful little product. It literally glides onto the skin and makes my skin feel super smooth and polished. A perfect base to apply this year’s favourite foundation…

Best Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation- Okay, so no real surprises here because if you’re a frequent reader of Our Dreams of Fashion, you’ll know how much I seriously love this foundation. Firstly, it smells divine (not normally a requirement in a foundation but seriously it smells like flowers). It applies like a dream, so easy to blend and gives my skin a lovely dewy glow. It’s light to wear (almost as if you’re not wearing any foundation at all). It’s just a fabulous product.

Best Concealer: Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer- A must-have product for me, it instantly gives me that ‘just-woken-up-and-I-look-flawless’ glow. It really brightens up my eye area.

The Miracle Cream/Moisturiser: Benefit It’s Potent! Eye Cream- Speaking of eyes…2014 saw the discovery of this wonder product by Benefit. This eye cream is an absolute lifesaver for tired eyes. This product moistures the eye area, removes dark circles and fine lines. I adore it.

Best Contouring Product: Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder- Yep, the product that looks a bit like chocolate. This gorgeous bronzer is a fabulous product for creating those defined cheekbones and making my face look a little less round- success! I add a bit of highlighter (although I couldn’t think of an absolute favourite for this year) on the tops of my cheeks to just accentuate my cheekbones further.

Best Lip Product: MAC Pink Plaid- Okay, so the beady-eyed amongst you will notice that Pink Plaid is nowhere to be seen on my photo and that’s because I just can’t find it anywhere (oops!). I literally take this lipstick everywhere I go so hopefully I’ll find it a clutch bag somewhere in my house… Anyways, I love this gorgeous matte lipstick that gives me a pout to rival Kylie Jenner.

Best Mascara: Benefit They’re Real!- Of course! I haven’t used any other mascara this year. This product gives me such long, separated lashes. It really does seem like I’m wearing false lashes, without any of the hassle.

Best Palette:  Urban Decay Naked 3- 2014 was the year that I really got into eyeshadow and I found myself using this palette almost everyday in the autumn and winter months. A gorgeous selection of rose golden shades, shimmers and mattes, to suit everything from subtle everyday looks to full-on smoky eyes.

Best Cream Eyeshadow: By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Frozen Quartz - A recent purchase for me but it is already one of my all time favourite makeup items, ever. It glides over the eyelid leaving a gorgeous wash of colour: silky smooth, incredible staying power, so easy to blend, beautiful pigmentation with a hint of shimmer. What more do I need to say?

Best Eye Brush: MAC X Riri Hearts Double-Ended 217/239- I adore this brush with its beautiful packaging. The iconic 217 blending brush is a must; I’m completely useless when it comes to blending eyeshadow yet this brush makes it so easy.  The 239 eye shader brush is fab for adding more intensity to your eyeshadow- a must for creating gorgeous smoky eyes

Best Face Brush: Real Techniques Blush Brush- I’ll be 100% honest with you I used to completely overlook this brush in my Real Techniques Collection. But now, I absolutely adore it. It’s the perfect blush brush- so soft and the bristles pick up the blush powder so finely to ensure you don’t overdo the blush!

Best Nail Polish- Essie Nail Polish in Sole Mate- Such a gorgeously rich burgundy-plum colour. I love Essie polishes.

Best Fragrance- Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt- I’m forever falling in love with new fragrances but this incredible fragrance has to be my favourite of the year. I can see me wearing this scent everyday in 2015…
