Naked Smoky

Oh, I’ve completely fallen in love with another Urban Decay Naked palette...

I was waiting in anticipation for the Smoky palette. The Naked palettes have become a must-have beauty product and it’s not difficult to see why: the quality of the UD eyeshadows is incredible. They are so easy to blend, the colour pay-off is amazing and the shades are just b-e-a-u-tiful. So, when the Smoky palette was finally released, I was quite surprised to find myself debating over whether to get it or not. I own all the other Naked palettes (and I absolutely love them) but I thought that I didn’t really need this one. Then, the pictures started filling my Instagram feed and there’s no denying that this palette is an absolute beauty.

Did I need it? No. Did I want it? Absolutely. So, here we are. I couldn’t resist it any longer and found myself literally running (slight exaggeration) to the nearest Debenhams. I’ll be honest; I’m quite disappointed in myself that I ever doubted the Smoky palette. It really is something special. I think it’s the best Naked palette. Yes, seriously.

Firstly, we have to talk about the gorgeous packaging. Just look at it. If ever there was a palette made for Instagram, then it would be this one. Heart-eyed emoji time. I love the Smoky marbled effect. The packaging is also really sturdy and the full-size mirror is really useful for perfecting that smoky eye when you’re on-the go.

The UD Smoky palette includes twelve smoky-neutral shades. There are mattes, shades and shimmers in bronze, taupe, grey and black shades. As this is an UD palette, you already know that the pigmentation is incredible and the shadows blend like a dream. Now, I’m a brown eyeshadow kind-of-girl so I was a little bit unsure as to whether I would use many of the shades. Of course, I was wrong and the shade range is amazing. My favourite shades are High (a cream-champagne shade with a hint of glitter), the bronze-gold shade of Dirtysweet (that shimmer though), Whiskey (a gorgeous deep brown matte) and Combust (a soft pink-taupe).

The shades in the palette are great from day to night; sultry daytime looks and intense smoky eyes for the evening. This palette really does have it all. Yes, if you have the other Naked palettes, you don’t really need it… but you’re going to buy it anyway! Who can resist this palette?
