The New Additions To My Lip Collection

In with the lip crowd....As you can tell, I'm a definite your-lips-but-better blogger cliché kind of girl when it comes to my lip collection. My lip collection really started when I began to invest in MAC lipsticks when I was younger (we all remember that phase- Patisserie and Honey Love are still some of my all-time faves). There's nothing better than finding a new lip product (or two...) that you completely fall in love with.
I was feeling in a very treat yo self mood recently and decided it was time to add a few new additions to my lip collection. It was also time to invest in some liquid lipsticks. Also, who has any real self-control with it comes to the NYX counter?! Nobody.

Liquid Lipstick Lovin'

There's no denying it, liquid lipsticks are everywhere at the moment. Now, I have to say that I was rather skeptical about getting on board with this trend. My lips tend to get rather dry and liquid lipsticks are so notoriously drying and high maintenance. But, I couldn't help being curious and after seeing so many amazing reviews regarding the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and the Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipsticks... well it was bound to happen sooner rather than later.

The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipsticks are a one-coat wonder. No, seriously. These lipsticks are indeed long-wearing. I can put this on in the morning, eat and drink throughout the day, and by the end of the day it's still going strong. Yes, some of the product had crumbled away but the colour still remains, almost like a lip stain. I love how matte the formula looks on my lips and it seriously makes my lips look so full and plump à la Kylie Jenner. I have the shade Melon and it really is the most perfect nude for everyday. I love the packaging and the formula is so easy to apply and perfect your pout due to the size of the doe foot applicator. I also don't find it too drying on the lips. The shade range is dreamy (get in my life Praline and Citronade Rose - you absolute beauties). For £14, you really can't go wrong with these.

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams need no introduction. It seems like everyone wants to get their hands on these right now. Every time I go to my local Boots counter, they are constantly sold out. And it's no surprise why: great formula, amazing price (£5.50) and not at all drying.  Okay, so these lip creams are nowhere near as long-lasting as the Jouer Liquid Lipsticks and therefore touch-ups are necessary throughout the day. But, reapplication is so easy, the formula just glides on seamlessly. I love these. The moisturising formula is the opposite to what you may expect from a liquid lipstick and the shades are so up my street. So far I own Athens (a peachy pink nude) and Abu Dubai (aka the brown-nude colour of dreams, this is a must-have shade). I will definitely be adding a lot more of these to my collection, so please your fave shades in the comments below (like I need another excuse to visit the NYX counter again). I also picked up a NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the shade Tea and Cookies (super cute name). Now, to be honest, I'm still really undecided about this one. I don't hate it... but I don't love it either. This formula is definitely way more drying and I found the lipstick to look quite patchy on my lips. This lipstick definitely requires a bit of lip prep before wearing it. Tea and Cookies is a typical pinky-peach nude but it definitely looks a lot brighter on my lips than I was expecting.
Now, I probably wouldn't buy any more Liquid Suedes. However, after admiring the Olsen twins' makeup looks for the Met gala and then discovering that they were wearing the shades Sandstorm and Soft Spoken... well, I might just be tempted to buy some more. After all, if it's good enough for the Olsens then it's good enough for me! But I will definitely have to my prep my lips more, which leads us to the next addition to my collection...

The Best Lip Balm Ever?

Okay, so after experimenting with lots of different liquid lipsticks, I realised that I needed to up my game when it came to lip care. And I knew just the balm to invest in. Yep, things got a little bit spendy on Cult Beauty. Again. By Terry's Baume de Rose has received a lot of love from the beauty community and, I have to say, it really is the best lip balm I have ever used. Yes, it is really pricey but it's like a spa treatment for your lips. It's so nourishing and makes my lips look soft, smooth and plump. It also has the added benefit of SPF 15 and it smells divine. It's a luxe product that's totally worth it. I bought my Baume De Rose in the Crystalline bottle with the doe foot applicator and it has become an absolute staple in my handbag.

Dreamy Lip Glosses

I'm having a bit of a moment with lip glosses. I can't really remember the last time I owned lip glosses but after receiving a Dior lip gloss for my birthday in March, I have become rather obsessed with them. The NYX Butter Glosses are just something really special. I talked about my love for these in my last post but seriously I could wax lyrical about these little gems all day. They are so pigmented, they apply like a dream and they smell like vanilla frosting- what's not to love?! The colour range of these glosses is impressive so there's definitely a shade for everybody. My chosen shades are Creme Brûlée (a bit of a cult classic, the perfect everyday nude) and Fortune Cookie (a really pale nude lip that is perfect for those with fair skin). Yep, I can see me buying a lot more of these in the future and for £5 each, who can blame me?
